The Man Shirt is a trend that ticks a couple of major style boxes this season but it is the comfort factor that is a real draw with this one. Pulling on an oversized shirt in the morning makes getting ready super easy and it is a complete winner over Christmas when let’s be honest, some extra bagginess around the girth is always welcome. Even better, if you have a boyfriend/brother/father then it is free. It is time to steal his stuff and wear his clothes.
Whether you call it a roll, turtle, polo or skivvy (skivvy? I’d never heard of it either. It’s an Australian thing apparently), this is one knit that you should definitely be investing in this season. I spend most of the long British winter trying to stay as warm and comfortable as possible which generally results in all thoughts of style and fashion flying straight out the window. However this season, throwing on a huge knit, in particular a polo neck, is totally legit.
A bit of street stalking gives us plenty of tips on how to wear this key piece. Go big on top and tight on the bottom if you are leaving the house and want to avoid looking like Jabba the hutt and even layer up a tighter fit of polo neck under a shirt for a more glam look that will still keep you toasty warm. Oh and top tip to look like a true fashion darrrllling- make sure your hair is tucked in to the roll neck. Although a word of warning: this will result in being itchy and hot. As is always the case, no pain no gain.

Unless you have been living on the moon for the last week, you would have noticed that a certain football tournament taking place in Brazil has taken over life as we know it. If, like me, football is not your bag, there is a silver lining to this particular cloud. Rio de Janeiro. With documentary programmes and news focussing on the city, we are getting to see and learn more than ever about this magical place. I have been lucky enough to visit Rio de Janeiro. It is one of those places that sweeps you up in its energy, fun and glamour, leaving you utterly exhausted and broke but grinning from ear to ear. Beautiful people, breathtaking scenery, colour, noise and sun are an intoxicating cocktail. Add a buzzing economy not to mention fashion industry into the mix and you have some pretty spectacular people watching.
With temperatures staying north of 20 degrees in London for a 4th day in a row, our thoughts have inevitably turned to all things Summer. After the initial panic of having to get the winter legs out, we are now fully in Summer mode…until that is, the onset of the forecasted rain next week. This editorial from Vogue Spain (June 2014) is doing a pretty good job of getting us inspired for long, lazy beach days with super babe Karolina Kurkova doing what she does best.
With Summer just around the corner, you would be forgiven for assuming that you might see an explosion of colour in the city streets in eager anticipation of the sun. Not so. With a chill still in the Spring air, monochrome continues to rule the fashion waves.
